An Employer Child Care Survey to Inform Solutions to Virginia's Labor Shortage

Introduction

This short survey from the Virginia Early Childhood Foundation, the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce seeks to understand:
  • the impact of child care on employee recruitment, retention, and reliability, as well as the productivity of Virginia businesses;
  • the policies and practices businesses engage in to support the child care needs of employees; and
  • the resources and policies that are necessary for businesses to support their employees’ child care needs better.
Since we are interested in the child care issues that businesses are facing, we are most interested in hearing from businesses that employ individuals with children younger than 13.

Participation is voluntary, and the findings from the survey will only be reported in the aggregate. No individual employer responses will be reported. Survey results will inform policy recommendations for an improved child care system to keep Virginia competitive as one of the best places in the country to do business.
