Dr. Emmanouil Brilakis, on behalf of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) Match Taskforce, invites you to participate in a survey-based study about the inaugural cycle of Interventional Cardiology (IC) participating in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). The purpose of the study is to assess the experiences of participants in the 2024-2025 IC NRMP Match cycle.
You are being asked to participate because you are either an Interventional Cardiology Program Director or Program Coordinator, or you applied in 2024 for an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship position (to start in July 2025) through the Match. The study findings will inform quality initiatives, policy, and advocacy efforts to support the growth of interventional cardiology’s presence in the NRMP.
If you decide to be in the research study, you will be asked to fill out a web-based questionnaire about your experience with the 2024-2025 Interventional Cardiology Match cycle, including demographics, interview logistics and challenges.
This questionnaire will take less than 15 minutes to complete. There are no right or wrong answers to these questions. You may skip any question you do not want to answer.
Participation in this study is voluntary. Questions are optional, and you can stop your participation at any time. If you say no now, or decide to stop later, you will not be penalized or lose any benefits you have the right to have. There are neither any direct benefits nor any foreseeable risks to participating in the study. The survey does not collect any personal health information, and all data will be reported in aggregate.
Regardless of your participation in the survey, you will have the option of entering your name and email address for a drawing for 1 of 4 free registrations to SCAI 2026 Scientific Sessions (2 for program director respondents, 2 for IC Fellowship applicants). Your contact information will also be used to remove you from this survey’s email reminder list. Your contact information cannot be linked to your survey responses. Only authorized SCAI staff will have access to your contact information for the purposes described above. The study staff will only receive anonymous survey responses and will not be able to link your responses to your contact information or any identifiable information.
If you have any questions or concerns about the study, please contact: Justine Mascarenhas, Director of Scientific Programs, Society for Cardiovascular Angiography & Interventions (SCAI) or Dr. Emmanouil Brilakis, Study Principal Investigator (Emmanouil.Brilakis@allina.com; 1-612-863-3900).
