SISP Rubric Pilot Registration

In alignment with other recent updates to the model rubrics for educator evaluation, DESE is releasing new, role-specific model rubrics for:
  • School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselors
  • School Counselors
  • School Librarians
  • School Nurses
  • School Psychologists
  • Speech and Language Pathologists
Schools and districts are invited to pilot one or more of the new SISP rubrics during the 2025-26 school year. Pilot participants will be asked to share feedback on the rubrics to support their refinement and formal release in June 2026.

Eligibility: The pilot is open to all PK-12 schools and districts. We are seeking SISP educators and evaluators representing a diverse range of districts and schools from across Massachusetts with the goal of ensuring that the rubrics are broadly applicable across diverse contexts.

Educator/Evaluator Participation Requirements:
  • Implement the new rubric during the 2025-26 school year, using the rubric to guide goal-setting, evidence collection, and feedback.
  • Provide feedback on the updated rubric via a survey in Spring 2026.

School/District Participation Requirements:
  • Support use of the new rubric(s) for the evaluation of one or more SISP educator(s) during the 2025-26 school year. Districts are responsible for securing agreement to participate from the educators, evaluators, and local collective bargaining units as necessary.
  • Support DESE to collect feedback from participants, such as through dissemination of surveys and/or invitations to optional focus groups.

Additional Considerations:
  • Districts may register prior to securing participant agreement but should indicate the estimated number of SISP educators and evaluators who will participate. This will be confirmed in early Fall.
  • For the purpose of the pilot, districts can consider using “hold harmless” policies for educators who participate in the pilot.
  • A virtual training session will be offered in September to orient pilot participants to the updated rubrics and the goals of the pilot. Participating educators can opt in to additional support as offered by each of the professional associations (more information forthcoming to registered participants).
