The Austin Fast-Track Cities’ Social Determinants of Health & Equity workgroup, in collaboration with Cardea, is implementing the People Living with HIV (PLHIV) Stigma Index to gather information needed to reduce HIV stigma and increase access to health care and community resources for people living with HIV in the greater Austin area.
The Stigma Index has been implemented in over 100 countries around the world and in three US States (Michigan, New Jersey, and Louisiana). Visit https://www.stigmaindex.org/about-the-stigma-index/ for more information.
We're interviewing PLHIV to learn about their experiences disclosing their HIV status to people, experiences of stigma and discrimination, emotional and psychological impacts of living with HIV, interactions with healthcare providers, and ways they advocate for themselves and/or others living with HIV.
We want to speak with you about your experience living with HIV, if you're:
- Living with HIV and have known your status for at least 12 months
- A resident of Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, or Williamson counties
- 18 years of age or older
Here are a few things to know about the interviews:
- Participants will be provided with a gift card valued at $100 to thank them for their time and offset expenses (e.g., transportation)
- They'll be conducted in private spaces at community facilities in the Austin area
- They'll last between 60-90 minutes
- All information shared will remain confidential; anything shared will be pooled with other responses and summarized anonymously
- Participation is totally voluntary

Estamos entrevistando a PVVIH para conocer sus experiencias de estigma y discriminación al revelar su estado serológico, así como el impacto emocional y psicológico de vivir con el VIH, sus interacciones con profesionales de la salud y las formas en que abogan por sí mismos y/o por otras personas con VIH.
Queremos hablar contigo sobre tu experiencia viviendo con VIH, si:

También debes saber que:
