T2E Bay Area 2025 Advisor Application

Tech2Empower Bay Area

Location: San Francisco, CA
Dates: November 7, 2025 (with virtual collaboration through December 5, 2025)

Thank you for your interest in volunteering as an Advisor for Tech2Empower Bay Area. This is a project of WAKE aimed at harnessing the power of technology, volunteerism, and collaboration to address the most pressing issues in the Bay Area. The program connects skilled tech and other industry professionals with local nonprofits to work on impact projects that enhance the nonprofits’ ability to serve their communities effectively.

Read about the impact projects requested by the participating nonprofits. Once you are confirmed as a volunteer Advisor, you will have the opportunity to identify the projects where you think your skills best match.

Tech2Empower Bay Area Advisors have the unique opportunity to:

  • Collaborate directly with nonprofits by providing technical assistance, training, and tools on projects designed to enhance their operations and expand their impact.
  • Build community with local social impact leaders and fellow Advisors.
  • Network with peers from leading tech companies and like-minded individuals committed to social change.
  • Gain a profound personal and professional development experience that not only amplifies the work of frontline organizations but also deepens your understanding of critical social issues in our community.
Tech2Empower Advisor Participation Details:
  • In-person collaboration: Advisors will collaborate with their nonprofit partners in San Francisco all day November 7 (9am-5pm) on a specific impact project. Immediately following, all participants will be invited to join our community at the top floor of the Salesforce Tower for WAKE's 10 Year Anniversary Celebration (5:30pm - 8pm).

  • Virtual Collaboration: Over the following four weeks beginning November 10, Advisors and their nonprofit teams will continue their collaboration virtually, dedicating about 2-3 hours per week. This phase includes weekly meetings to refine project scopes, set goals, and achieve milestones toward project completion (with flexibility encouraged over the week of Thanksgiving).

Outcomes:

  • Nonprofits benefit from cost-free expertise and partnership that significantly advance their chosen impact projects.
  • Advisors contribute valuable skills and time, engage in meaningful social impact work, and build enduring relationships with nonprofit leaders, often extending beyond the program’s duration.
Commitment from Advisors:
  • All Advisors who successfully match with a nonprofit commit to the full timeline of the program, from initial in-person collaboration through to the virtual project completion.
  • Participate in an orientation session, one day of in-person collaboration, ongoing independent project work, and a closing virtual event.
  • Participation from Advisors includes a $600 donation to assist in delivering a quality program to all. This donation allows us to provide this beneficial support to the participating nonprofits at no cost. (Fundraising, matching, and sponsorship opportunities are available). Your Advisor donation also includes a ticket to our 10 Year Celebration event at no additional cost (ticket value $150+).
