As part of our ongoing inquiry and exploration on AI and higher education, we invite you to contribute through the
Survey of UNESCO Chairs and UNITWIN Networks on AI in Higher Education. This initial Survey aims to gather insights into the experiences, views and perceptions of UNESCO Chairholders and Network Coordinators on AI in their respective higher education contexts:
- As individual academics
- Within their respective higher education institutions; and
- At system level, within their respective national systems of innovation.
The survey is an initial, foundational exploration to map an evolving landscape of AI’s influence in higher education. It focuses on the following themes:
- Individual AI access and professional use
- Institutional AI governance and ethics
- Pedagogical integration of AI
- Research collaboration with industry
- National policy on AI in higher education
Co-created with UNESCO Chairs, this survey reflects interdisciplinary expertise. Question formulation has been informed by previous UNESCO surveys, literature reviews and have been refined through the critical use of AI tools (DeepSeek, Gemini and ChatGPT). The Survey will be accompanied by follow-up interviews with a sample of UNESCO Chairs and findings will be shared with the global higher education community. All published results will remain anonymous.
We warmly encourage all members of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Chairs Programme to participate in this Survey. Kindly complete the survey by
16 June 2025.
