About the Project

The Rennie Center for Education Research & Policy is excited to announce the continuation of our Student Changemakers project in the fall/winter of 2025 and is seeking dedicated school and educator partners. This initiative, launched in 2022, empowers youth to become agents of change in their schools or communities through a Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) process. Student teams will identify critical issues, investigate root causes, and develop actionable solutions.

YPAR helps students develop real-world skills, such as managing projects and conducting research, and build social-emotional skills through problem-solving and teamwork. Crucially, it helps students develop long-lasting civics skills, including public speaking, advocacy, community organizing, and critical thinking. By applying classroom learning in authentic contexts, YPAR empowers students to be educated, engaged, and active participants in society, fostering lifelong learning and civic engagement.

We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis. Please click here for more information.
