South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa Legionnaires' Survey
The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) is conducting this confidential survey as part of an investigation into cases of Legionnaires' disease reported in guests who stayed at South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa. The goal of this survey is to gather information on any other individuals who stayed overnight, worked at least one shift, or attended a convention or multi-day event at South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa since April 16, 2025, who may have become ill.
Legionnaires' disease is a type of pneumonia caused by the Legionella bacteria and is contracted by inhaling aerosol droplets of water contaminated with the bacteria. Most people exposed to Legionella will not get sick; however, it can cause severe illness and sometimes result in death. Symptoms of Legionnaires' disease are very similar to other types of pneumonia and can include cough, shortness of breath, fever, muscle aches, and headaches. Symptoms will usually begin within 2 to 10 days after exposure to the bacteria. Guests who stayed at South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa more than two weeks ago and have not developed symptoms are not at risk for the disease. If guests of the property develop symptoms within 14 days of their stay, they should seek medical attention.
Any information provided in this survey is considered confidential health information per Nevada Revised Statutes 441A.220, and will not be shared outside of SNHD. Based on your responses, SNHD may contact you with additional questions to assist with our investigation.
