Bio 253 Application (Fall 2025)

BIO 253 Class Enrollment Information

Thank you for your interest in BIO 253 – Health Professions Shadowing.

This course offers a unique opportunity to observe healthcare professionals in clinical settings, providing firsthand insight into the roles, responsibilities, and collaboration that define today’s healthcare environment. Through structured observation and guided reflection, you will explore whether a career in health care aligns with your goals, values, and strengths.

BIO 253 is intended for students who are seriously considering a health-related career and are ready to engage professionally, think critically, and reflect deeply. Admission is selective and based on a demonstrated commitment to the health professions, academic preparation, and readiness for professional conduct in clinical environments.

Participants are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, including punctuality, respectful communication, and appropriate attire. In addition, students must maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and institutional privacy guidelines when observing patient care.

Space is limited. We encourage applications from students who are motivated, mature, and committed to making the most of this immersive learning experience.

NOTE: This application requires two 500-word essays. All completed applications from students who will be 2nd years and up in Fall 25 will be considered for a placement.
