Help shape the future of Queens Park Playground by sharing your thoughts in our design feedback survey! It only takes five minutes to complete, and your input will make a real difference.
Project Background:
Moonee Valley City Council is exploring the possibility of redeveloping the existing playground in Queens Park West – and we want your ideas to help guide the design.
Currently we are conducting an early-stage visioning process to understand what matters most to local families, children and park users. Your input will directly inform a concept design brief and help ensure any plans reflect local priorities and ideas.
The concept design will then be developed via a professional design competition conducted as part of The Playground Project - a trailblazing international exhibition connecting society through art and design and making its southern hemisphere debut at Incinerator Gallery this year. The project aims to achieve a design that offers both great play value and strong artistic merit – with the connection to The Playground Project encouraging designs that are imaginative and culturally meaningful.
Some aspects of the project, such as the size and scope of the playground, will be dictated by site constraints and playground safety standards. However, we encourage all community members to share their ideas, memories, and priorities to guide the overall vision for the playground.
Design features that will be excluded from the concept design include:
- A playground larger than the current size. The available envelope is demonstrated below. Note that there will be consideration of landscaping intended to integrate the playground into the surrounding area.
- Water play
- Recreation facilities (e.g. basketball court/ball sports)
- Changes to parking
- Changes to public toilet facilities
- A fenced playground
