Student Poster Conceptual Abstract Form

Conceptual Analyses describe normative theses or conceptual analyses that address a policy, or practical problem in research or bioethics, and identify directions for future theoretical or practical work. Review the submission criteria and guidelines included on this webpage before submitting an abstract.

Important Note: Only completed abstracts that follow the submission guidelines and that are submitted by August 25, 2025, at 11:59 PM ET will be accepted for review. Abstracts must not exceed 575 words in total; there are word limits for each section. Abstracts will be prepared for blind review (all identifying information including institution and organization names will be removed from the body of the abstract).

4. Proposal Title
A proposal must have a short, specific presentation title (containing no abbreviations) that indicates the nature of the presentation (75 words max). *This question is required.

Select the primary topic for your submission (you can select a secondary topic if more than one topic applies on Question 6). *This question is required.

6. Secondary Topic
Select the secondary topic for your submission, if applicable.

7. Abstract Classification
Please note whether your poster is related to human subjects research, animal care and use, bioethics, or is on a crossover topic (e.g., research integrity, education, emerging trends and technologies; professional development; challenges to trustworthiness and ethics).  *This question is required.

8. Background
A statement of the conceptual/ethical/policy/practical problem or question being addressed, and the thesis of your abstract. Specify whether you are answering a prescriptive question (e.g., questions regarding what ought to be and whether actions are permissible or obligatory) or a descriptive question (e.g., questions regarding the characteristics of population, behaviors, attitudes, or policies).

9. Methods
An explanation of the research methods used (e.g., conceptual analysis), etc.

10. Conclusion
Conclusion of your argument or conceptual analysis (e.g., are you clarifying distinctions, organizing concepts, or making a proposal or recommendation?).

11. Limitations
Limitations of the argument/analysis, including potential counterarguments and points not considered. Please note that whether or not the conclusions can be applied to populations outside that which you intended to study are not considered limitations.
