Parent Involvement Survey – Special Education – 2025-26 School Year
Dear Parents/Guardians:
The South Dakota Parent Involvement Survey is given to all SD families with children receiving special education and related services. This is your opportunity to provide input about your local school district's special education program. Please take a few minutes to complete this brief survey.
What is being asked?
The survey asks you to rate your experience on how your school involves you in your child’s special education services.
Who is asking for this information?
South Dakota Department of Education (SD DOE) and the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs are asking this information.
Why am I being asked to complete this survey?
The U.S. Office of Special Education Programs requires that states gather parent feedback on parent involvement in special education. Survey data will be summarized for the school district and the SD DOE to improve services for children and families in your school and across South Dakota.
Are my responses anonymous?
Yes, your answers are anonymous. Personally identifiable information is not collected. Surveys are sent directly to Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education (TAESE) for analysis. Only a summary of district-wide data will be shared with the district. Your written comments will be reviewed only by SD DOE.

If you have more than one student with disabilities receiving special education services, please complete a survey for each child. After you've completed the survey for the first child, you will be given an opportunity to complete the survey on your other child(ren). Your feedback is VERY important.
