Scott Benton with Larimer County and Hannah Eining with the City of Fort Collins will be discussing how success is measured in Natural Habitat Buffer Zones and other revegetation projects within the City of Fort Collins.
Scott is an environmental planner with Larimer County. His main focus is on the protection and restoration of the County's natural resources on development projects by finding creative solutions to challenging situations and ensuring proper implementation through inspections and monitoring. Always a pragmatic thinker, Scott enjoys figuring out the ‘how’ in addition to the ‘why’.
Hannah is a Natural Resources Zoning Inspector with Community Development and Neighborhood Services. Her main role is to inspect and ensure compliance within Natural Habitat Buffer Zones, while enhancing the ecological value of these systems. As the City is faced with increasing population pressures and development, she strives to ensure the longevity and resiliency of the natural systems that are woven throughout our city.
Both Scott and Hannah will be presenting on how reference areas serve as a guide for planning projects and a benchmark for evaluating success. In this session, the presenters will discuss how they are selected and measured, and how the data is used to determine feasible revegetation targets for commonly targeted plant communities. Results from the previous growing season will be discussed from the various reference sites.
