Welcome
The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program aims to make it safer for children to walk and bike to school.
Each year DDOT works with schools to create Safe Routes to School Action Plans. Those plans are informed by a comprehensive review of traffic, pedestrian and bike infrastructure in the school area, and input from parents and students collected in this survey. The Action Plans include short-term and medium-term recommendations that will be reviewed and implemented by DDOT.
DDOT uses a data-driven process, based on safety, to select a new list of schools each year. A list of the 25 schools that DDOT is currently working with – as well as links to the Action Plans and Short Term Infrastructure Improvement Summaries that have been completed in the past – can be found on the
DDOT SRTS website.
DDOT will only be creating Action Plans for the 25 schools listed this year, but will continue working on Action Plans at additional schools in future years.
Whether or not your school is on this year's list, if you have a concern about an urgent traffic safety issue, we encourage you to report it by calling 3-1-1 or submitting it at: https://311.dc.gov/citizen/home
This survey takes about five minutes to complete. Please complete the survey with only one school in mind. If you have multiple students at the same school and your answers will vary based on their age or other factors, or if you have students at multiple schools, please complete a separate survey for each.
Thank you for your time!
