Your voice Matters – Mental Health and Wellbeing Survey

Your voice Matters – Mental Health and Wellbeing Survey

Hi, and big, big thanks for your interest in this survey which is being shared with young people 11 – 25 years old, in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, with lived experience of mental health challenges.

This is a great opportunity to make a difference by making sure to have your voice heard by a wide audience of service practitioners, managers, decision-makers, and policy makers. Your voice is important, matters, and counts.

The aim of this survey is to gather your thoughts and ideas about:

  1. How you look after your mental health and well-being, and

  1. How others help support your mental health and well-being, and

  1. What you would like to be better than it is now

The survey may take however long you need, but it needs to be completed in one go. You will be able to see all the questions which will give you an idea of how long it might take.

Most of the questions will be open ended and have some suggestions to guide you. The questions will be mostly voluntary. Those that have to be answered are marked with a red asterisk.

You can complete the survey on your own and in your own time, or with the support of someone you trust.

You may also wish to share audio or visual content, in which case these will need to be uploaded using this link.  Please see here for further guidance.

The information you provide will be confidential and the results for reporting purposes will be anonymised. However, if you wish to be included in a draw to win a £50 Love to Shop voucher, you will need to provide contact information.

For details on how we will use your information and protect your privacy and anonymity, please see here.

PLEASE COMPLETE THIS SURVEY BY 2 JUNE 2025

Next Steps

The survey has been designed by Join the Dots Children and Young People’s Group. This group is part of Cardiff and Vale Mental Health Forum and includes members of local voluntary organisations and local authority youth services supporting children and young people, with an interest in mental health and wellbeing.

A peer researcher commissioned by Cardiff and Vale Action for Mental Health (cavamh) will collate the surveys and produce a report that will be shared within the Group and with statutory influencers.

We intend to hold an event in the summer, where the findings can be shared.

It is important that you feel OK about doing this survey, while you are doing it, and also afterwards. If at any point you don’t feel OK, please talk to someone you trust and let them know. You may also want to contact a helpline, a crisis service or out of hours service.
