Addressing the Housing Crisis with Hope & Courage
Date: April 24, 2025
Time: 4:00-5:30 pm
Location: Zoom (a link will be sent to you after registration)

Washington’s housing and homelessness crises are impacting students and communities statewide. This session will support educators in leading informed, compassionate discussions in the classroom by examining the latest data and reports, as well as identifying cause-and-effect relationships behind these issues. FEPPP Special Populations Program Supervisor Miladys Garcia will focus on courage, sharing a unit on government assistance and strategies for supporting students who rely on social services while fostering a classroom environment where discussions can happen with dignity. FEPPP K-8 Program Supervisor Amy Kliewer will focus on hope, exploring the intersection of financial wellness and social-emotional resilience, along with strategies for educators and counselors who hear concerns like, “I will never be able to own a home.” Join us to explore classroom resources designed to help students understand housing insecurity while fostering hope and financial empowerment!
