The Instructional Leadership Institute (ILI) is a conference co-developed by the Center of Instructional Support (CIS) and the Center for School and District Partnerships (CSDP). This year’s ILI will guide participants through interactive learning, modeling, and application of practices, tools, and strategies to foster deeper learning, high-quality core and tiered instruction, and affirming and supportive learning environments. Sessions will include time for content-specific experiences (ELA/Literacy, History, Math, and Science), grade-span specific problem solving, analysis of school and district systems and structures, along with focused team planning time. Districts and schools are encouraged to send teams of leaders with representatives across content areas.
DESE will provide teams with the opportunity to learn from and with their peers across the state and explore instruction through an equity lens, and develop the systems necessary to support high-quality instruction within their respective roles. Districts can consider sending teams of up to 8 individuals.
Teams should aim to include a variety of leaders, including those who serve in the following ‘roles’:
Required:
- Executive sponsor and team leader(s): likely a superintendent or assistant superintendent, someone who has a broad platform in the district, has influence over resource allocation, and executive authority to oversee this work
- Instructional experts and coaches: likely a curriculum director and/or subject matter expert who support other educators through coaching and/or supervision (i.e., an instructional coach) at the district or school level
- School-level leader(s): likely an influential principal in your district who can bring the school-level perspective to supporting instruction
Optional:
- Special population leaders: likely an MLL or Special Education director
- Teacher leaders: likely school-level teacher leaders who are core members of the school’s ILT or who help to design instructional systems at their school
We hope to accommodate as many teams as possible but will confirm participation via email after the registration has closed. Please complete this form by May 30, 2025.
