The National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) is committed to continuous quality improvement and seeks your feedback about the current accreditation standards. We welcome your input and suggestions for changes to the current five standards of accreditation and quality indicators. The current Accreditation Standards for Nursing Education Programs (2021) are used with all levels of nursing programs including Practical/Vocational, Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, Master's Degree, Post-graduate Certificate, and Practice Doctoral Programs. The Accreditation Standards also apply to face-to-face, blended/hybrid, and fully online distance education programs.
Review each standard's overall statement and then consider the individual quality indicators for each standard. Consider if the standards are consistent with current educational practice and responsive to evolving nursing education practices. Also consider if the quality indicators are clearly communicated in a logical and sufficiently detailed manner without overlap. We encourage you to provide specific suggestions for items you would like to see included, deleted, or changed in the text boxes provided after each overall statement or quality indicator. Comments must be received by July 16, 2025 to be considered.
If you have any questions about the standards revision process please contact Dr. Teresa Shellenbarger, Executive Director, at 202-909-2487 or via email at tshellenbarger@nln.org.
Thank you for your assistance in helping to revise these standards.
