University Honors Program - Student Assistant Application Form
The Honors Program is hiring paid Student Assistants to work part-time in the Honors Program office for the 2025-26 Academic Year beginning Fall 25 quarter. Rate of pay is $16.50 per hour. The positions are for one academic year. If interested, please complete the application below. For full consideration, please submit your application by Monday, March 24, 2024, at 11:59pm. Honors student applicants must be "in good standing" to be considered. Interviews will be held the week of April 14th.

Lead Publications Editor (up to 10 hrs/wk)
This student assistant is responsible for the production of two Newsletters per year as well as an on-line brief, Honors Now, and creating the End-of-Year Grad Program. The Lead Publications Editor manages a team of volunteers who are responsible for generating the content, photos and design of Honors publications.
Required skills: Proficient in Adobe InDesign, Google Suite, organized, good communications and writing skills
Marketing & Communications Lead (up to 5 hrs/wk)
This student assistant is responsible for managing all honors multimedia platforms, including the honors website, Instagram, LinkedIn, Slack, Cal Poly Connections, and alumni outreach efforts, etc. Responsibilities also include creating all promotional material for honors events. The student assistant manages a team of volunteers who are responsible for generating weekly content for the honors multimedia platforms and event flyers.
Preferred skills: Proficient in using design software, social media savvy, good communications skills, organized and creative. Video editing and web design using Drupal a plus!
Event Planning Lead (up to 8 hrs/wk)
This student assistant will be responsible for organizing social events throughout the academic year. These social events will include events to help foster community among our first-year students. This student assistant will also be responsible for organizing and coordinating the yearly Honors Professional Roadmap Series. The Event Planning team are responsible for assisting the end-of-year Graduate Celebration event.
Preferred skills: Organized, attention to detail, energetic, creative, good interpersonal skills.
Peer Mentoring Lead (up to 5hrs/wk)
This student assistant is responsible for managing the Learning Assistant for HNRS 100 in Fall. The Peer Mentoring Lead is also responsible for coordinating our volunteer peer advisors, implementing the Find Your Pack mentoring program for our first-year students, and organizing and coordinating an annual community service event.
Preferred skills: Organized, energetic, creative, takes initiative, comfortable speaking to large groups.
Lead Student Assistant (up to 10 hrs/wk)
This student assistant works closely with the Honors Director, Associate Director, and Administrative Assistant on all administrative tasks including but not limited to honors emails, tracking student forms, updating student files, creating forms/surveys, record keeping. The Lead Student Assistant helps to manage the student assistant leadership team.
Preferred skills: Proficient in Excel, organized, good time management, leadership skills.
