Welcome to the Scott W. Wolfe, MD Traveling Fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery (SWITHS) application! Application Deadline: January 31, 2026

Named in honor of Scott W. Wolfe, MD, the Traveling Fellowship is designed to support advanced post graduate subspecialty education and surgical training for Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery fellows through visits to leading national and international centers of excellence.

Eligibility
Two fellowships are awarded annually to fellows in the graduating class of the HSS Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship. Fellowship awards began with the 2025 graduating class.

Program Highlights
  • Award Amount: Up to $25,000 per fellow to support travel, accommodations, course registration(s), meals, and related expenses
  • Duration: 4–8 weeks, to be completed within three months of graduation
  • Scholarly Support: Travel expenses to attend the HSS Hand Conference in the year following the fellowship will be covered for accepted abstracts

Fellowship Requirements
Fellows are expected to:
  • Present a report of their travels to the Thursday HSS Combined Hand Conference summarizing their fellowship experience in November of the fellowship year  
  • Submit a final written report and contact list for inclusion in the SWITHS Fellowship Directory
  • All required materials are due on November 1stof the award year
