The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking suggestions for experts to update the 2022 report, A Research Strategy for Ocean-Based Carbon Dioxide Removal and Sequestration. The experts will serve on a new standing committee charged with providing trusted, vetted, and transparent information on the state-of-science and priorities for mCDR research.
National Academies staff will assemble a committee of approximately 18-20 volunteer experts. Within the context of mCDR (including specific approaches; the ocean carbon cycle; measuring, reporting and validation (MRV) of carbon removal and environmental impact; techno-economic analysis; and of mCDR issues related to governance, social acceptance, and environmental democracy), we seek expertise in the following areas:

- physical oceanography
- chemical oceanography
- biogeochemistry
- fisheries science
- chemical engineering
- coastal engineering
- industrial engineering
- economics and techno-economics
- sociology and
- policy
