Program Overview
NAAE is offering scholarships for preservice agricultural education majors to attend our Future Agriscience Teacher (FAST) Symposium, which will be held in
Lexington, Kentucky beginning travel on
September 10 with the program concluding on September 13.
The Future Agriscience Teacher (FAST) Symposium is a professional development experience for preservice agricultural education majors which provides customized professional development, networking, and mentoring with current and future agriculture teachers from across the country.
The NAAE FAST Symposium will focus on the following:
- Creating an inclusive, diverse, equitable and accessible classroom environment
- Inquiry-Based Learning
- Professional development
- Collegiality
September 10-13, 2024
FAST Program recipients receive:

Three nights (Wed, Thurs, Fri) lodging in a double occupancy room with another FAST participant of the same gender identity. If you live within 50 miles of Lexington, KY you may stay at your own residence.
- All onsite meals (except those purchased while traveling to/from Lexington)
- Ground transportation to/from the scheduled events
- Supplies and materials associated with sessions and experiences
- Travel costs (we will book your flight or pay your mileage if you drive)
Program Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this program, each applicant must be:
- Applicant is a current 2024-2025 NAAE Student Member and plans to be a 2025-2026 NAAE Student member. Check membership status by emailing ahood.naae@uky.edu or pay online on our NAAE Website.
- An agricultural education major at a college or university that offers a program of study in agricultural education-teacher certification track or similar licensure program that ends in being certified to teach agriculture at the secondary level; M. Ed initial licensure majors are also eligible to apply as long as they have never taught before. (Priority may be given to those who are close to completing their degree (seniors, student teaching candidates).
- Mandatory attendance and engagement in all sessions during the event (lodging will be provided for those who need it based on travel schedules on departure days). If you cannot attend the entire event please do not apply. Participants should arrive at the host hotel no later than 10pm EST on Wednesday, September 10 and depart no earlier than 1:00pm EST on Saturday, September 13.
Program Application Procedure
Interested and eligible preservice teachers must complete the application below by
11:59pm EST on Friday, May 15, 2025 - no exceptions. Submit early so you are not dealing with last-minute technology issues. Please check NAAE student member status prior to applying.
All applications will be evaluated and selected by NAAE. Only those selected through the application process may attend the 2025 NAAE FAST Symposium.
