Extension Developer Permissions and Data Collection Survey

We are looking to make the extension installation and permissions/data consent process easier for extension developers and Firefox users in 2025. To do this, we're looking to hear from developers about which permissions and data types their extensions use today. Any information you provide in this survey will be handled in accordance to the Mozilla Privacy Policy.
 
For any extension you currently develop, please answer the following questions to help inform our research.

2. What types of data does your extension send, transmit or collect?

Personally identifying information - Includes contact information like name and address, email, and phone number, as well as other identifying data such as ID numbers, voice or video recordings, age, demographic information, or biometric data.
Health information - Like medical history, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, procedures, or heart rate data.
Financial and payment information - Like credit card numbers, transactions, credit ratings, financial statements, or payment history.
Authentication information - Credentials such as passwords, usernames, personal identification numbers (PINs), security questions, and registration information for extensions that offer account-based services.
Personal communications - Such as emails, text or chat messages, social media posts, and data from phone calls and conference calls.
Location - Like IP address, region, GPS coordinates, or information about things near a user’s device.
Browsing history - Information about the websites you visit, like specific URLs, top-level domains, or categories of pages you view over time.
Website content - Covers anything visible on a website — such as text, images, and links — as well as anything embedded like cookies, videos, audio, and site domain information.
Website activity - Includes mouse and keyboard activity like scrolling, clicking, typing, and covers actions such as saving and downloading.
Bookmarks - Information about Firefox bookmarks, including specific websites, bookmark names, and folder names.
Technical data - Includes information about the environment the user is running, such as browser settings, platform information and hardware properties.
Usage or interaction data - Includes how the user interacts with Firefox and the installed add-ons, metrics for product improvement, and error information.
