Introduction
CSUSB-NENU Education for Sustainable Development Consortium (CNE-SDC) cordially invites educators, researchers, policymakers, non-governmental agencies, students, and university community to the 2nd Annual Internation Conference on Education for Sustainable Development. The conference focuses on advancing the goals of high-quality education for sustainable development at the higher education level. High-quality education unlocks our imagination, creativity, and innovation to build a world of opportunities where all people, regardless of race and gender, can contribute to creating a fair, inclusive, and equitable society. Goal 4 of the United Nations (UN) affirms that quality education is the key to the Sustainable Development Goals. Central to Goals 4 and 5 of Education for Sustainable Development is the critical role of higher educational institutions as they are uniquely positioned to educate future leaders, conduct research and disseminate research solution-oriented findings to problems,  design education programs and pedagogies that enhance critical thinking and creativity, motivate students to make informed decisions that contribute to sustainable development, and promote internationalization that encourages people of different nations to collaborate and share ideas to address interconnected global challenges like climate change.    
 
Conference Theme:

Advancing the Goals of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) at the Higher Education Level

Conference Objectives:
  1. Equip conference attendees with the knowledge, skills, values, and dispositions to serve as change agents for a sustainable future.
  2. Bring together researchers and practitioners to share best practices for integrating ESD into higher education.
  3. Foster collaboration among educators and policymakers from China and U.S.
  4. Promote action-orientated strategies and programs that drive sustainable development via education.
  5. Promote awareness of climate change education, and mitigation and adaptation
                   strategies and programs to reduce the impacts of climate change.
  1. Share research of conceptual, empirical, experimental, and theoretical work in ESD.

Gender Equality Practices that Empower Women and Lead to Gender Equality and Advancement of Women (Goal 5 of the UN ESD)
  1. Designing effective UN ESD Curriculum to challenge Gender Stereotypes and promote Gender -sensitive Perspectives across subjects.
  2. Investigating the best practices for incorporating women's contributions to sustainable development into educational materials.
  3. Developing effective methods for training teachers on gender equality pedagogy and inclusive classroom practices in the context of UN ESD.
  4. The role of school leadership in supporting teachers to implement gender-sensitive teaching practices.
  5. Developing and implementing policies that address barriers preventing girls from participating fully in UN ESD programs.
  6. Effective strategies that encourage girls' engagement in STEM subjects within UN ESD initiatives.
  7. Evaluating the effectiveness of the UN ESD programs promoting gender equality.
  8. The role of parents and community leaders in promoting gender equality within UN ESD programs.
  9. How factors like socioeconomic status, caste, race, and disability intersect with gender to impact access to education and gender equality.
