The Financial Planning Hall of Fame is a new program honoring visionary individuals whose transformational achievements have fundamentally shaped the profession, elevated its standards and enhanced its impact on society. It is a living testament to those who dare to reimagine the possibilities of financial planning and champion the profession’s highest ideals. The program also aims to inspire current and future generations of financial planning professionals by showcasing pioneering leadership and innovation.

While many lists highlight “top” financial advisors and lifetime service awards, this program is uniquely focused on recognizing those who have shaped the future of holistic financial planning in meaningful and enduring ways.

Examples include people who have:
  • Fostered the advent of affordable investment advice
  • Advanced critical standards in the profession (e.g., disclosure, fiduciary, ethics, etc.)
  • Championed the growth and recognition of the CFP® marks in the U.S. and globally
  • Strengthened awareness of financial planning among consumers, financial services firms and policymakers
  • Established groundbreaking educational institutions/programs
  • Developed significant technological advances that have advanced financial planning for the public’s benefit
  • Furthered CFP Board’s mission to credential competent and ethical financial planners, uphold CFP® certification as the recognized standard and advance the financial planning profession

Selection Process

CFP Board has convened a 2025 Selection Committee that brings informed, varied perspectives and an understanding of the transformational triggers and events that have shaped the financial planning profession over the last five decades. The Selection Committee includes former CFP Board Chairs and Board members, longtime CFP® professionals,  academics and public member representation.

Following an open nomination process, the Selection Committee will assess submissions and recommend candidates to the Board of Directors of CFP Board for 2025 induction.
