Library association copyright activity survey

Welcome!

This survey is designed to build up an idea of what activities library fields around the world - and in particular associations - are undertaking around copyright and information law, policy and practice. The goal is both to give a snapshot of what work is already taking place, and provide the basis for a toolkit to help library associations be more active in this space.

We understand copyright and information law, policy and practice as including engagement with different aspects of the open movement (access, science, scholarship, data, culture, knowledge).

We also see activities as falling into five major categories:

Policy Monitoring: maintaining a regular watch of key stories and developments in your country around government policy and programmes, as well as the activities of private actors, linked to copryight and information law

Problem-Solving: responding to questions and concerns that individual libraries or library and information workers face around copyright and information questions

Training and Guidance: proactively creating codes, guidelines and other materials, as well as offering training, to help libraries and library and information professionals better work with copyright and information laws

Advocacy: engagement in wider political debates towards politicians and other stakeholders

Partnering and Projects: forming connections with other actors in order to develop projects and programmes that make the best of the copyright and information laws and policies that we have

Your answers are anonymous (and no IP data is collected), but we do ask you to share an e-mail address if you would like to receive the results directly, or give us the possibility to contact you to ask for more details.

We will publish quantitative data, but will also be keen to draw on resources shared in order to build a toolkit. In each case, please do indicate if you are happy for us to refer to your resources in subsequent publications.
