Are you a current or emerging leader in ophthalmology? The American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO) invites you to consider becoming its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO)—a role that provides vast opportunities to shape strategy, inspire teams, and serve the public. Experienced executives with a demonstrated passion for the mission of board certification are encouraged to apply and help propel our mission forward.
Applications must be submitted using this form. To get started, please download and review the complete job description, along with the stakeholder feedback report, and consider the following questions:
- Where do you see the ABO in 3-5 years, and how will you help it get there?
- How have you built and maintained relationships with key stakeholders in your current or previous roles?
- What is your leadership philosophy?
We recommend that you pre-write your answers to these questions (in 250 words or less, each) so that you can copy and paste them into the application form in the appropriate section below. The remainder of the form should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. You will be asked to:
- Enter your name and contact details
- List your current job title and affiliation
- Answer five brief questions about your practice, certification, and licensure history, and grant permission for the ABO to conduct relevant background checks
- Answer each of the three questions listed above in 250 words or less
- Upload your CV and a Letter of Interest addressed to the Search Committee
Please be assured that the ABO will make every effort to maintain the confidentiality of your interest in the role; however, finalists will be asked to supply personal and professional references.
Review of applications will begin immediately with interviews beginning in June. All applications must be received no later than May 15. Questions about the search process may be sent to Committee Chair Lorrayne Ward, MBA, MPP.
