Air-to-air heat pump research discussion: register interest

Information
Nesta's Sustainable Future team is doing a short piece of research into considering the wider use of air-to-air heat pumps to help accelerate the reduction of emissions from homes in the UK.

As part of this research, we'd like to interview the following people:
  • Individuals living with an air-to-air heat pump
  • Heating/cooling engineers that install air-to-air heat pumps
  • Air-to-air heat pump manufacturers
  • Other experts in the home heating or decarbonisation sector
If you fit one of the above descriptions and are able to take part in a 45 minute conversation between 19 February and 5 March, please complete the form below to register your interest in an interview.

Individuals living with an air-to-air heat pump and heating/cooling engineers will be thanked for their time with a Love2Shop voucher. More details on this will be shared after you register your interest.

Background information
We’re currently working on a brief research project to develop a better understanding of how air-to-air heat pumps may play a role in reducing emissions from homes in the UK.

Amongst other issues, we're interested in understanding:
  • how the experiences of households researching, installing and living with an air-to-air heat pump may differ from air-to-water heat pumps
  • how the challenges of increasing the number of qualified and skilled installers may differ between these two technologies
  • whether there are differences in house type or lifestyle suitability for each technology's use
  • the broader challenges that the sector is currently facing with regard to air-to-air heat pumps, and what challenges may emerge if a greater focus was placed on air-to-air heat pumps as a route to decarbonisation.
