The IMplement MA: Implement and Monitor High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) Network is designed for district and school leaders who are ready to shift from curriculum adoption to instructional transformation. The network will focus on establishing or strengthening the consistent and coherent systems, structures, and practices that lead to equitable and sustainable experiences and outcomes for students and teachers, with the ultimate goal of providing consistently grade-appropriate instruction with HQIM that enables ALL learners, particularly those from historically underserved groups and communities, to excel at grade level and beyond.
Who should attend?
District implementation team leaders and members in LEAs that have selected/adopted HQIM, are preparing to launch their materials or are currently implementing HQIM at any grade level. The implementation team leader should be someone who can make decisions at the school or district level and choose other instructional leaders (coordinators, directors, vice/principals, coaches, etc.) who are a part of or will comprise their district's implementation team.
What is the commitment?
Participating district teams will commit to having their district implementation team lead at each session, with other team members joining for sessions relevant/pertinent to their role to help inform learning across the vertical spine. Since the network will focus on various levers that are critical to sustaining implementation efforts, certain sessions may be more applicable to different audiences, so determining team member attendance in advance should be prioritized. Learning from each session should be shared amongst implementation team members during internal school/district team meetings, to drive actions towards implementation focus/goals and support teachers to create learning environments that promote deeper learning for ALL students. Other commitments include:
- All participating LEAs will commit to working on building/strengthening at least ONE of the enabling conditions that support skillful implementation through a self-assessment
- Commitment to at least one internal planning/calibration meeting at their district between network sessions to review learning/next steps from prior month's session
- Sharing progress towards goal from self-assessment and how learning impacted change in their district at culminating meeting in June
- LEAs participating in this network will be required to participate in research efforts, including providing student-level assessment data from the approved early literacy screening assessment that is administered in all schools. DESE will request that data be submitted by June 30. DESE will analyze the data collected for research purposes, including evaluation of this network. Analyses will comply with state and federal confidentiality laws.
- Optional - Share a success story or how you district overcame a roadblock specific to your implementation efforts during an applicable session
