The North Island Credit Union Foundation Scholarship Program is designed to acknowledge exceptional students throughout the greater San Diego and Riverside Counties, by awarding 10 scholarships of $1,000 each to these students.
Submission of an essay and letter of recommendation will provide a testament to the character and abilities of the student applicant. Proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university in 2025 AND a W-9 tax form will be required before release of award funds.
Applicant Qualifications
- Resident of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Ventura, San Diego or Orange Counties OR a California or North Island Credit Union member/dependent of a member who may live outside of our core service area
- Graduating high school senior enrolling into a two- or four-year college OR community college student transferring into a four-year university
- Minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA)
- Evidence of community and/or school involvement
How to Apply
- Fill out the online application below. You will not have the opportunity to save the application and return later to complete it.
- Submit the following two supporting documents online. These documents must be typed or legibly printed and may be uploaded as a PDF, Word, or image (.jpg or .png) file.
- A copy of your school transcript including your GPA and ACT or SAT scores (if applicable). Unofficial copies are acceptable.
- A letter of recommendation from someone other than a parent/guardian who has experience working with you either through a school activity, job, or community involvement.
- Provide a short essay that answers ONE of the three topics found in the application below (not to exceed 700 words).
- Application, supporting documents, and the short essay must be submitted together by Friday, March 7, 2025, 11:59pm, Pacific Time.
Award Announcement
- Award recipients will be announced on our website on Monday, March 31, 2025: northisland.ccu.com/studentscholarship
- Recipients will also receive an email notification.
- Awardees will be invited to a private award presentation on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
- Recipients must provide proof of college/university enrollment by August 31, 2025, and a signed W-9 tax form to receive the award.
