The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking suggestions for experts to be considered for the membership rotation or other engagement with the new Mathematical Sciences Education Board. The Board will be responsible for programs and activities that provide guidance at the national level that brings to bear high-level and balanced expertise from the mathematical sciences research and education communities and their stakeholders on a broad range of issues related to mathematical education. Using these suggestions, National Academies staff will be looking to build a committee of approximately 16 volunteer experts in addition to collecting information for potential speakers, participants, and peer reviewers for any publications resulting from the activity. Based on the Statement of Task, staff are looking for expertise particularly in the following areas:

Theoretical mathematics
Applied mathematics
Engineering
Statistics
Computational life sciences
Industry
Mathematical policy
Mathematical sciences education at elementary and middle/high-school levels
Mathematical sciences education at 2-year, 4-year, and Ph.D. granting postsecondary institutions
Mathematics education policy
Mathematics teacher preparation
