Cultural Diversity and Inclusion 2025

The SEIU-West Education Department is pleased to invite SEIU-West members to apply for the above-noted two-day workshop.
Objectives of this two-day course are for participants to learn different aspects of diversity and how to engage a diverse workforce. Participants will:

  • Learn about the history of Immigration to Canada
  • Understand the needs of a changing workforce
  • Understand what it’s like to be a new Canadian
  • Learn different aspects of religions and cultures
  • Gain tools to create an inclusive work environment
  • Learn how to stand up against racism
  • Explore and understand what white privilege means
  • Be aware of human rights legislation around cultural diversity

This course is designed for any SEIU-West member that would like to learn about other cultures and how to be anti-racist. 

Classes will occur in:
  • Saskatoon on October 8 and 9, 2025 *SASKATOON IS NOW FULL AND WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE WAITLIST.  
  • South (either Moose Jaw or Swift Current) on October 15 and 16, 2025
SEIU-West will cover the costs of 15 participants per session. Expenses will be reimbursed to a maximum of two days' lost wages/honorarium. Lunch will be provided, and accommodations and mileage will be reimbursed according to our policies.

After the deadline, those who are selected to attend will be sent a confirmation with more details about the event prior to booking union leave.

We’d love to have you attend our course, but if you indicated that you are on Short-Term Disability or Workers Compensation, it’s risky for members to attend. If you don’t claim the income from coming to the conference correctly, they may charge you with fraud and cause you to never qualify for either WCB or DIP again. You also need to ensure that attending this course fits within your abilities and is approved by your Disability Worker, etc.
