Dear Interested Adults/Parents/Guardians,
We are pleased to announce Stamford’s 25th Class of Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) where in-depth leadership training will be offered to 20-25 selected participants.
Parents are their children’s first and most important teachers. They are also the best advocates for children in society. Parents can speak out on issues and inform policymakers, the media, and other parents about the needs of families and their community.
PLTI offers a highly stimulating curriculum that will boost parent’s leadership and civic skills to address such areas of concern as accessible child healthcare, the achievement gap, neighborhood safety, and the significance of parental engagement, to name a few. Together parents will emerge as strong leaders and advocates for all children. Slots fill up quickly so please submit your application as soon as you can.
The training will be offered in-person with an all day retreat on Saturday, January 25th and classes continuing on Thursday evenings for 20 weeks until June. There will also be a Saturday session on March 29th. Class is from 5:30pm to 9:00pm, beginning with a family style dinner, networking and social time from 5:30-6:00pm. The training will be offered only in English.
The Children’s Leadership Training Institute (CLTI) will be provided for students ages 4 and older during the parents' session.
Candidates will be selected from a diverse group of adults passionate about children’s issues and policies, and who also have a strong interest in developing their individual leadership skills to advance causes that benefit children and families.
Participation in the Stamford Parent Leadership Training Institute is free of charge. Your time, commitment, and the successful completion of a written community project report that reflects your passion is what we ask for in return. Consider carefully whether PLTI is the right initiative for you at this time.
