Study Background
The City of Savanna, with assistance from Blackhawk Hills Regional Council, recently kicked off a feasibility study for extending the Great River Trail from its current terminus in Savanna to Miller’s Landing (located across from the northern entrance to Mississippi Palisades State Park). This study is being funded by a Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP) grant.
The city has selected a consultant team (Toole Design and Strand Associates) to evaluate potential routes for the 4-mile trail extension. The project team will consider new route ideas, as well as some routes that have been proposed in past studies, such as a route through Mississippi Palisades State Park, a protected trail along the IL 84 corridor, and an elevated boardwalk along the river.
We will ask for public input at several points during the study. This survey will help us understand your needs and desires relating to the trail extension and help us decide what criteria we should use when evaluating the different routes.
There are 12 questions total, and the survey should take about 5 minutes to complete. All questions are optional.
