PLOS Mental Health Lived Experience Focus Group

Please read the following information carefully before submitting your application:

  • The PLOS Mental Health Lived Experience focus group will meet twice a year via zoom to discuss journal direction and initiatives.
  • This role is voluntary and there will be no monetary compensation for taking part.
  • In the first instance, members will typically serve for 12 months. However this will be reviewed after the first year.
  • If you answer 'Yes' to questions 7 and/or 8 below, all data collected as part of this form will be stored confidentially for 24 months before being completely and permanently destroyed. If you select 'No' your data will be destroyed as soon as the members of the focus group have been confirmed.
  • The identities of group members will be made publicly available on our blog pages. By being affiliated with the group, others will be aware that you identify as having lived experience of a mental health condition. However, sharing specific details of your condition publicly and/or with PLOS Mental Health is entirely optional and no details will be available publicly alongside your identities.
  • Applicants should not already be affiliated with the journal as Section or Academic Editors. If you have reviewed for the journal or submitted a paper to us, you are welcome to apply.
  • Further details on how we collect, store and share your data is available in the Participant Consent document.
