Trip Agreement - 2025 Monumental Loop Backpack

3. Preparedness: I understand that this trip requires excellent cycling fitness, intermediate mountain bike skills and a front-suspension mountain bike with aggressive thread tubeless tires wider than 2.5 inches. No e-bikes are allowed on this trip. The fitness, gear and skills are necessary to ride with confidence for up to 45 miles per day and elevation gains of up to 2800’ for multiple days in a row. I certify that I will be prepared with the experience, skills, conditioning, and gear to meet the requirements of the trip.*

4. Route: I understand that terrain we will ride on this trip will involve a variety of riding surfaces including paved roads with cars, rough gravel, 4X4 (ATV roads) and singletrack trails. The surface is quite rugged in places and will most likely require some significant sections of hike-a-bike. Most of these roads and trails receive little to no maintenance. Deep sand, eroded trails, and rutted roads are common. I understand that i may have to push my bike uphill or downhill if I cannot ride parts of the route. I certify that I am capable of riding (and pushing) my loaded bike on this kind of terrain and I will be ready to provide references who can attest to my confidence on this kind of terrain.

Accommodations: I understand that this trip will require sharing of hotel rooms and basic cabins with up to 3 other people in our party who I may not initially know for 5 nights total and the remaining nights we will be camping at wild campsites along the route for which I will need to provide and carry my own tent or possibly share (optional) with other trip participants.

6. Food: I understand that the variety of food available and the ability to meet special dietary preferences will be limited for evening in towns and that I am responsible for bringing and carrying backpacking food for the nights we are camping.

7. Travel Documents: : I understand that I will be required to hold up-to-date travel documents, medical insurance, and emergency evacuation insurance for the trip, at my own expense. The evacuation insurance should be sufficient to get me to a local hospital and medical insurance should cover my out-of-state medical expenses.

8. Teamwork: I understand that this is a group trip and that participants will look out for and support each other on the trail. Pace, daily start-end times, route and side trips will be driven by the needs of the group and conditions on the ground.*

9. Leadership: I understand that safety and well-being of participants comes first and the itinerary and route may change without prior notice based on conditions. While participant input will be valued, the Mountaineers trip leader will be the ultimate decision maker.

10. Responsibility: I understand that the Mountaineers trip leaders are not guides and that I am responsible for knowing the route and where I am along the way at all times.

11. Fitness and Medical Conditions: I commit to providing a doctor’s certification of medical fitness if requested, and to disclose to the leader and outfitter in advance of the trip about any recent injuries, surgeries, allergies, medications or medical conditions that could impact me on the trip.

12. Behavior: I commit to behave during the trip in a careful and safe manner, to communicate to the leader promptly about any illness or injury, and to put my health and safety and that of my fellow group members first even if this means having to turn around or exit the trip early.

I commit to follow the Mountaineers Global Adventures covid-19/respiratory illness policy to support everyone in the group staying healthy and not passing illness on to other group members during the trip! This includes:

I commit to being fully vaccinated to participate in the trip, including the most recent boosters that I am eligible for.
I commit to wearing a high quality mask and wash my hands regularly during transit to the trip including at airports and in planes .
I commit to carrying at least 4 covid-19 self tests with me on the trek and self-testing proactively as soon as I detect any symptoms that could indicate covid-19.
I commit to communicating any respiratory illness symptoms to my trip leader as soon as they arise
I understand that a positive covid test or other significant contagious respiratory virus symptoms means that I will need to arrange, and transport myself to, alternative lodging in which to isolate myself from other group embers until I no longer have a fever and my symptoms have significantly declined. I also understand that I'll be expected to wear a high quality mask and wash my hands regularly for 5 days after returning to the group.

I understand that I am subject to a cancellation fee based on the nonrefundable amount that we have incurred up to the point of cancellation ($40 if cancelled 16 days prior to the trip) and the non-refundable Mountaineers $100 administration fee). No refunds will be possible if cancelling less than 3 days of the start of the trip.
