Please review the following needs questions and note each considerations level of importance during your adoption of source-to-pay technology alongside an implementation partner. At the end, we will ask that you share what we have missed, so please keep that in mind as you review.
Considerations before purchasing a source-to-pay solution:
7. My organization has difficulty developing a compelling digital procurement strategy that aligns with my organization's broader strategies and guides a digital procurement transformation plan.
8. My organization does not have the internal resources to dedicate to a S2P technology implementation.
9. My procurement staff lacks the digital knowledge and skills to effectively implement source-to-pay technology either alone or into our larger technology ecosystem.
10. My organization is concerned that when implementing procurement technology options, we may be unable to avoid unexpected costs (for example, integration/data costs) or hidden challenges, including the cost of ongoing support (or the internal cost of poor post-implementation support).
11. My procurement organization has trouble developing a solid business case/ROI that compels finance/the C-suite to provide funding for a source-to-pay technology and its implementation.
Factors to evaluate when selecting a services provider for implementation support:
13. My organization struggles to pick the best-fit service provider because we have pre-existing contracts with large consultancies that may not be so.
14. My organization is unsure how to select a service partner to assist with software selection and/or implementation, because we lack either the resources/time or the objective market knowledge.
15. My organization needs to reliably evaluate a service partner’s experience based on the number of projects they've completed, resources and capabilities they offer, and which products and customer types they cover.
16. A service partner's industry-specific experience is a key consideration for my organization, and we would not choose an implementation partner that does not have experience in our industry.
17. The implementation should have "guaranteed" value. For example, I only pay my implementation service partner as performance milestones are realized rather than providing a large upfront capital investment.
18. It is critical to my organization that our implementation service partner provides pre-selection content, such as diagnostics/benchmarking (for example, industry-specific), and post-selection content, such as configuration guides, process/role specific templates, training, knowledge, etc. (even embedded AI).
19. It is critical that my implementation partner offers a rigorous, formal change management process that supports needs, such as talent/skill assessment, stakeholder assessments and sign-offs, knowledge transfer, and other methodologies tailored towards effective change management.
20. I want a service provider that will take accountability for the technology and assist us with both the implementation and hosting and supporting the application, including upgrades, integrations, and other platform-level technology (e.g., AI tools, third-party app-partners, etc).
