ASA Concepts Survey

The Three Concepts

YOUR ideas will directly shape OUR arboretum.

We will use your feedback to create a single final concept that will be released to the public in early 2025.

For more information on each concept, please visit the ASA website here.

Concept 1: Community Crossroads
Community Crossroads envisions Arboretum San Antonio as equally balanced as a cultural and environmental institution. This scheme includes the most architecture, the most complex network of pathways and connectivity, and the greatest opportunity to create space for a diversity of partnerships and revenue streams.

Concept 2: Wild San Antonio
This scheme focuses on protecting the incredible character of the site today, and enhancing that character, to provide a robust collection of ecosystems and trees representative of South Texas. The visitor experience is focused on being in and exploring nature through hiking, camping, observation, educational programs, research, and nature-based play.

Concept 3: The Testing Grounds
The arboretum maximizes the potential for productive landscapes, including research plots, growing trees, seed, and food for use in the wider community. This scheme has strong potential for academic partnerships and provides access and interpretation to the research, demonstration landscapes, and the children’s Living Laboratory interactive playground and citizen science center.
