Applicant Information

Thank you for expressing interest in the Immigrant Ambassador Program point person role with the Office of Multilingual Learners (OML).

The Immigrant Ambassador Program (IAP) is a near-peer advising initiative designed to prioritize postsecondary planning for immigrant students. The Immigrant Ambassadors are DOE alumni and current college students enrolled at a local NYC college. Many of our ambassadors are multilingual learners and/or immigrant students with experience navigating our high schools and manifesting their postsecondary goals. The ambassador will rely on your on-going support and collaboration to ensure a cohort of DOE immigrant students are able to explore, prepare, and apply for a postsecondary pathway of their choosing through both 1-on-1 and small group support throughout the school year.  Participating as a host site will require a School Counselor or assigned teacher to meet with the ambassador weekly, ensure the entire school community is aware of his/her role and purpose, set a consistent schedule and monitor goals, as well as identify the respective DOE students the ambassador will work with.

To be considered in the application process, please respond to the questions and attach a cover letter and resume in a PDF format.

Note, this is a per session job for current New York Public School teachers (UFT).
