Texas Construction Career Pathways Apprenticeship Readiness Program  

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Have a H.S. Diploma/G.E.D.
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Valid Driver's License 

Eligibility-dependent Stipends:
  • $80 Communication
  • $300 Transportation 
  • $700 Childcare 
  • $1,500 program completion at graduation

  • Exposure: Tour Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee (JATC) training centers

Skills covered:

Knowledge of the construction industry, building trades, registered apprenticeship awareness, construction math, OSHA-10, First Aid/CPR, career readiness, financial literacy, construction tools awareness, green construction, and others.
 
Timeframe:
  • 3-week curriculum
  • 120-hour in-class time 
  • Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4 PM

  • February: Austin           
  • March: Dallas/ Fort Worth
  • April: Dallas/ Fort Worth
  • May: Houston

Registered Apprenticeship Programs 

Timeframe:
  • Apprenticeship program lengths vary: 3 - 5 years (depending on trade)

Pay:
  • You get paid from the first day you start working, and your pay increases as you learn more skills, pay varies by trade

Location:
  • Apprenticeship programs are held at their respective JATC training centers 

Regional building and construction trades councils partnerships:
  • Austin
  • Dallas / Fort Worth
  • Houston

Education:
  • Upon successful program completion, you'll earn a national certification recognized by the US Department of Labor 
  • Multi Craft Core Curriculum (MC3) certification 
  • Upon finishing the apprenticeship, you'll have a career with a good salary with little to no educational debt
