The Australian Beef Sustainability Framework (ABSF) is an industry-led initiative to set out the key indicators of performance in sustainability for the beef industry. It enables success to be recognised through evidence-based metrics and empowers the industry to continually improve and demonstrate its values to customers, investors and stakeholders. It shows the industry’s intent to be accountable and to accurately tell the story of the Australian beef industry, further underpinning long-term market access.
Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and the ABSF Sustainability Steering Group (SSG) have engaged ERM and STR Consulting to conduct a materiality assessment refresh that will help the industry to determine where the industry has the biggest impact (positive or negative) on people, animals, the environment and economy, as well as risks and opportunities to the industry. The assessment will also help the Australian Beef Industry to continue to meet the changing needs in order to keep pace with new regulations, continue to access finance and increase the competitiveness of Australian beef products both at home in Australia and overseas. The assessment outcomes will be an important part of potential strategy updates and future reporting on the industry’s key priorities.
About this survey
This survey is part of the materiality assessment and aims to gather your views on the impacts (positive or negative) that you think the Australian Beef Industry has on people, cattle, the environment and the economy. It also aims to identify which ‘topics’ relating to The Australian Beef Industry are most important to you.
It should take about 15 minutes to complete. Your response is confidential and will only be used as part of larger data sets. If anonymity is important to you, please do not provide personally identifiable information in open-text questions.
The survey is an important part of the ABSF’s materiality assessment. Your input will help make sure that the ABSF's evolution remains focused on topics that matter.
Thank you for participating.
If you have any questions about the survey or about ABSF, please contact Jacob Betros at Meat & Livestock Australia at jbetros@mla.com.au or Bron York from the ERM team at bron.york@erm.com .
Survey structure
The survey is split into two parts:
- In Part A, you will be asked some general questions about you (responses are anonymous).
- In Part B, you will be asked to rank and rate a number of topics in terms of your level of concern, impact and influence. Please note that the topics are listed in alphabetical order.
There are opportunities to provide additional comments throughout and at the end of the survey.
