Representative Job Description

                                                        Success Through Mentoring Inc.

Title: Representative (North Spencer)
Reports to:
  Executive Director
Time Frame: 1 year/ongoing

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Reporting to the executive director, the northern representative will assist with developing and maintaining our one-on-one and group youth mentoring program. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES   

  • Support the mentor program and meet contribution goals for STM/community partners. 
  • Recruit, screen, orient, and assist in providing 8 hours of initial training to all incoming volunteer mentors. 
  •  Develop and maintain a minimum of 20 mentor/mentee matches.  
  • Maintain human resource files for all mentors and records of current, pending, and past mentors. 
  • Provide ongoing support and supervision to mentors, specifically conducting one-on-one supervision at least once monthly and being responsive to mentor questions and concerns. 
  • Provide ongoing education workshops to mentors at least once per quarter throughout the year. 
  • Outreach and communications to increase mentor/donor referrals.     
  • Hold quarterly partner meetings with partners/donors and maintain donation documentation.     
  • Maintain service documentation and track program donations, including those of partner agencies for semi-annual reporting. 
  • Conduct mentor mixers to facilitate new matches. 
  • Plan and implement events for matched youth and their mentors. 
  • Plan and hold an annual mentor appreciation event.    
  • Maintain and update program & outreach collateral. 
  • As part of supervision, we will collaborate to create a personal development plan that identifies your goals, objectives, and activities. 
  • Actively participate in supervision and staff training
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times. 
  • Obtain a minimum of 10 hours p/yr of continuing education, including best practices and the latest research related to mentoring for underserved youth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 
  • Sound judgment and the ability to supervise mentors in the field 
  • Excellent speaking and writing skills 
  • Knowledge in marketing: audio/video, social media, and public speaking
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with community volunteers and with youth 
  • Highly organized and collaborative 
  • Ability to take initiative, dependability, flexibility, and resourcefulness 
  • Ability to function independently and as part of a team 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites, Google Docs/ Calendar, and Internet usage
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Desire to work with underserved teens and young adults.

  • Posess a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (three years working with youth). 

  • Must possess a current State Driver's License/insurance and have an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years.

  • Employees must be able to pass a criminal background clearance check and drug screen.

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

    Employees must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a motor vehicle background check.
