Keystone Trails Connectivity Study & Essex Active Transportation Plan Visioning Survey

Introduction

The Town of Essex is undertaking two parallel and related projects: The Keystone Trails Initiative and a town-wide Active Transportation Plan. The Keystone Trails Initiative aims to identify opportunities for developing a multi-use trail network in the forest east of Route 289 and south of Route 15 to connect the Essex Town Center area with the Saxon Hill area and other destinations such as neighborhoods, commercial areas, and schools. The Town of Essex Active Transportation Plan will provide a blueprint for expanding opportunities for walking and biking throughout the Town of Essex. Together these projects aim to produce a safe, accessible, and enjoyable trail network for pedestrians, cyclists, schoolgoers, cross-country skiers, and other non-motorized users of all abilities that enhances the town’s recreational and active transportation opportunities while preserving connective natural wildlife corridors.

We want to hear from you! This survey, public meetings, and other forms of community input will help our town develop actionable strategies and designs for a walking, biking and trail network that best serves Essex’s residents and natural communities.

This survey is all about understanding your vision, your wants and desires for the trail and active transportation network. Be visionary in your response!
