Overview and Instructions
Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering for the American Board of Ophthalmology. ABO volunteers play an important role in helping the Board achieve its mission to serve the public by certifying ophthalmologists through the verification of competencies.
We rely on a diverse group of practicing ophthalmologists from all subspecialties to collaborate with the Board in exam development and administration. We seek ophthalmologists who are engaged in clinical practice and currently participating in Continuing Certification.
To apply for an ABO volunteer role, please take 5-10 minutes to complete this form. You will be asked to describe your current practice, affirm your participation in the Continuing Certification program, provide a copy of your current Curriculum Vitae, and review the Board's Conflict of Interest and Non-Disclosure policies. You will also have the option to submit the name of one reference who can attest to your professionalism; however, this is not required. (During application processing, you will be contacted to provide three letters of recommendation).
The Board fully realizes that the mission of the ABO could not be fulfilled without volunteer support. If you have questions about volunteer opportunities, please contact Sheila Hart, MBA, Volunteer Process Specialist, shart@abop.org, 610-664-1175 x. 807.
