miniPITCH - Schmeichel Edition - Sept. 28, 2024

Pre-registration for the miniPITCH Competition is now closed. But don't worry - show up on the day of the event, and if there are any openings after our pre-registered list, you can enter a draw for a chance to pitch your idea. Event Details Join the miniPITCH Competition – Schmeichel Edition, hosted by Jake Karls of Mid-day Squares. This exciting event is open to all aspiring entrepreneurs—students, alumni, staff, and faculty—to deliver a 2-minute pitch followed by a 2-minute Q&A from seasoned judges. No slides; just come with your pitch! Participants will receive feedback and compete for a $300 prize, aimed at supporting early-stage ventures. Date: Saturday, September 28, 2024 Time: 10 AM - 12 PM (arrive early for a good spot!) Location: Ronald D. Schmeichel Building for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (Main Event Space) For more information: https://entrepreneurship.uwo.ca/grand-opening/ Pitch Format - 2 minutes to pitch your idea (firm time limit). - 2 minutes for judges' Q&A and vote. - No slides Pitch Selection: A random draw at the event will determine who pitches and in what order. Therefore, we cannot guarantee you'll have a chance to pitch, but there's a good chance everyone will get the opportunity. We encourage you to stay for the whole event to support fellow participants and ensure you don't miss your opportunity. - We aim to hear 30 pitches and can have a max of 20 winners Pitching Tips: - Problem & Solution: Be clear and compelling. - Market & Model: Highlight market trends and revenue model. - Execution & Team: Show your plan, traction, and team strengths. - Prize Use: Share how the $300 prize will help your startup. - Presentation Skills: Stay within time and tell a great story. Prizes & Prize Allocation: Winners will receive a $300 voucher, which must be used productively towards your startup. - The $300 can be allocated to a gift card, provided the purchase of the gift card is possible via credit card. - Alternatively, the $300 can be deposited into your student account. To withdraw, ensure you have no outstanding tuition and have set up direct deposit. Additional Activities: During the event, we'll have: - Delicious Chicken and Waffles at 9:30 am: 1 per person, served on a first-come, first-served basis until we run out. - Startup showcase - Games, face painting, live music - Building tours - Prize draws with $5,000 in goodies
