Thank you for your interest in the American Psychiatric Association's (APA) Aspiring Psychiatrist Program (APP). This one year program, beginning in October, offers current high schoolers at U.S. high schools an introduction into the exciting field of psychiatry. We do this through providing SAT preparation materials, career development opportunities, educational sessions, mentorship, and networking opportunities at an annual in person event.
Our two goals are to decrease barriers of access in applying to undergraduate institutions for under-represented minorities (URMs) and to increase the amount of URMs interested in creating social change through a career in psychiatry.
