INSPIRES US - Protest Module

Interfaith, Spiritual, Religious, and Secular (INSPIRES) Campus Climate Index
Campus Protest Module

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this module. We designed the following items to inventory institutional actions in light of recent college campus protests. We know that activism takes many forms, and the items in this inventory focus specifically on demonstrative activism; that is, activities specific to participating in protests, rallies, marches, and demonstrations. We encourage you to collaborate with colleagues across campus who have insight to help answer these questions. Institutions will have the opportunity to respond to several open-ended items to help provide additional context.

The module questions were created and vetted by experts in religious, spiritual, and secular diversity; crisis response managers on public and private campuses; campus interfaith officers; and partners at Interfaith America. With that in mind – still – there may be questions that are difficult to answer due to wording and sensitivity challenges: In the spirit of partnership, we welcome feedback in this regard. Please reach out if you think we missed something or should consider rewording any of the items.

Institutional responses to this module will not be made public with any identifying information. All data publicly reported will be done so in the aggregate. Institutions will receive an email with a copy of their data at the end of this report.

If you would like a PDF of the items presented in this module to help with these efforts, please email us at inspiresindex@osu.edu. Also, if at any point you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact via email. We are grateful to have your involvement with the INSPIRES Index.

We ask that you complete this module by October 28th, 2024.
