Best Flight-Free Travel

The Best Flight-Free Travel Award celebrates eco-conscious companies that promote alternative modes of transportation to explore the world sustainably. This award recognises businesses that demonstrate a commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of the travel industry as a whole, inspiring young people to tread lightly on the planet whilst embarking on unforgettable journeys and looking after the future for our planet.


Judging criteria:

Commitment to sustainability
•    Demonstrated dedication to reducing the carbon footprint through flight-free travel options.
•    Integration of sustainability principles into business operations and travel experiences. 

Promotion of alternative transportation
•    Effective promotion and use of alternative modes of transportation (e.g., trains, buses, bicycles)
•    Innovation in providing accessible and appealing flight-free travel options.
•    Encouragement of sustainable travel behaviours among travellers.
•    Raising awareness about the environmental impact of air travel.

Impact on the environment
•    Measurable reduction in carbon emissions and environmental impact.
•    Implementation of eco-friendly practices and initiatives.
•    Contribution to broader environmental goals and objectives.

Travel experience quality
•    Provision of high-quality, memorable travel experiences without the use of flights.
•    Creativity and innovation in designing engaging and unique itineraries.
•    Positive feedback and satisfaction from travellers.

Innovation and leadership
•    Leadership in advocating for and advancing the cause of flight-free travel.
•    Innovative approaches to reducing the carbon footprint and enhancing sustainability in travel.
•    Setting an example for the industry and inspiring others to adopt similar practices.

When evaluating candidates, please take into consideration potential advantages and/or disadvantages, such as organisational size, budget, or scale of the campaign, project or initiative.

Evaluation instructions:
Each response can be rated on a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being the lowest score and 10 being the highest. Simply move the slider to score each entrant for each topic.

It is possible to score entrants equally.
