SCAPE 2024-2025 Interest Form

SCAPE Program Information

The Science Curriculum Adaptation Program for Special Educators (SCAPE) is an opportunity for district science and special education leads to collaborate and plan supports for students with moderate to severe disabilities in their districts. Teams will participate in “train the trainer” professional learning that can be used to support science and special education teachers in collaborating to provide high-quality science learning experiences for all students.

The program will consist of a two-day in-person institute taking place on December 3-4, 2024, followed by two 1-day virtual check-ins in the winter and the spring, dates TBD based on participating districts' availability.

Deliverables:
  • At the conclusion of the December institute, districts will submit a draft training plan to implement during the school year. They will also receive a copy of the DESE Walkthrough tool and be asked to conduct at least one team walkthrough before the winter check-in
  • At the winter check-in, teams will receive additional support based on their observations and feedback and adjust their PL plans
  • At the spring check-in, teams will debrief their walkthrough observations and finalize their PL plans
As a result of their participation in the program, districts will be eligible to apply for funding to offset the cost of science materials/kits and to provide stipends to educators for their participation in district PL offerings.

This form will indicate your district's interest in participating in this program. This is not a commitment to enroll, nor is it a guarantee of a spot in the program.
