Draft Future Plan

Thank you for participating in Phase Two of the Canby Transit Master Plan.
Canby Area Transit (CAT) will be updating its Transit Master Plan to serve the community’s needs better during the next years. This survey will give you a chance to shape the future of public transportation in Canby. Please share your thoughts on the draft route alternatives and what CAT’s priorities should be.
The Future Plan is being developed for CAT, which would use about 150% additional resources to increase the frequency of services and is built from the input and comments we are receiving from the community. This network will be a vision for how transit would look in the City of Canby over the next 10 years, however it will take some time to get there as this will be a major increase in resources. We are asking the public now about which of these ideas are the priorities that Canby should be focusing on the short term.

The changes that we are including in the plan are:
  • Canby Loop would have better service. This would mean going in two directions (today the Loop only operates clockwise) or shorter waits (15 minutes frequency). We want your input on what would be better for your community! The loop would also stop making the deviation to Aspen and 3rd. This area is reachable with a 5-minute walk from the closest bus stop, and anyone with difficulty walking can use Dial-a-Ride. 
  • Route 99X would go every 30 minutes to Milwaukie Transit Center where people could connect to the Orange Line and other TriMet routes. This would put Canby residents within a shorter trip, and only one transfer, of many Portland destinations. However, to do this, CAT would need to split the 99X at the Canby Transit Center. The bus going to Woodburn would come every 60 minutes. People starting their trip in Woodburn and wanting to go to Oregon City (or vice versa) would need to make a transfer at the Canby Transit Center. On the other hand, people starting their trip in Woodburn and going to Portland would not make any extra transfers – their transfer location would move to Canby instead of Oregon City. And Canby residents would make one transfer, in Milwaukie. 
  • The segment of route 99X going to Woodburn would extend to reach the downtown Woodburn Transit Center and wouldn’t stop at the Bi-Mart stop anymore (although the BiMart would still be within walking distance of a 99X stop). People would still be able to connect to the Woodburn circulators and Cherriots 10X at the downtown Woodburn Transit Center.
   
  • CAT would offer service to Wilsonville, that would complement the existing route 3X offered by SMART (the transit agency in Wilsonville). This would mean a route would go to Wilsonville every 30 minutes in the rush hour, and every 45 minutes in the rest of the day – twice as many opportunities to travel to Wilsonville as are available today.
  • The circulator and the 99X would operate until 11 pm Monday through Saturday nights.
  • CAT routes and dial-a-ride would start operating on Sundays, which would require a big investment but would allow people to rely on transit seven days a week.
